Music from Grace will present the fifth concert of its inaugural season featuring soprano Shelby Claire Milgram on Friday, January 24, 2014 at 7:00 p.m. at Grace Baptist Church, 4200 Dover Road, Richmond, VA 23221.

Tickets are $15 for adults, $10 for seniors and students. A portion of the proceeds will fund two charities, Sound Experiences, a music education program for underserved youth and the Grace Baptist Church Music Ministry fund. Biography. Shelby has performed throughout the U.S. and Europe in such roles as Mozart’s Queen of the Night, Offenbach’s Olympia (The Doll), Menotti’s Lucy from The Telephone and Puccini’s Sister Genovieffa from Suor Angelica. She has also performed as a soloist with various orchestras. Among other prestigious awards, Shelby placed first in the Maryland/Washington, D.C. National Association of Teachers of Singing Competition, Frances & Dorsey Whittington Competition, Alabama National Association of Teachers of Singing Competition and Music Teachers National Association Young Artist Competition.

The Academy of Music and American Youth Harp Ensemble are excited to partner with Grace Baptist Church to present Music from Grace, a chamber music series that provides quality music to the Richmond community. Each season benefits the local community not only through musical offerings but by sponsoring local charities, promoting awareness and raising monetary gifts. The 2012-13 Season will donate a portion of the proceeds from each event toward Sound Experiences, an El Sistema inspired program at Richmond Boys and Girls Clubs that teaches students to use music to engage in their communities, and the Grace Baptist Church Music Ministry.
