Private instruction is a crucial element in the proper development of a player’s skills on either instrument or voice. We offer private lessons in piano, voice, guitar, harp, flute and winds, strings and brass. Students receive individual attention and training that emphasizes rapid technical growth, as well as artistic and personal growth. Our private teacher will work with you individually in lessons a half hour, 45 minutes, or an hour in length.
For ages 6-10 a parent is encouraged to listen to lessons and help their child practice at home.
Those age 11 and up may attend lessons independently, depending on their level of responsibility.
All these students will also participate in a minimum of one solo recital per semester to learn proper performance etiquette and showcase each performer’s skills.
The Academy of Music offers private instruction in the following areas:
Harp students of all levels are welcome, including beginners. Music is tailored to match student abilities. Students will receive lessons and coaching in solo and ensemble repertoire (for both pedal and lever harps). Participants will develop technique and musicianship for performance preparation. Emphasis is on development of effective practice skills, memorization techniques, ensemble/chamber music skills and performance etiquette. Our students also have regular opportunities to participate in Master Classes with nationally recognized harpists. Harps are available for rent, subject to availability.
Attention to individual needs, learning style and physiology. Emphasis on exercises to reach the singer’s maximum range, proper vocal production and enunciation. Selection of music based on the individual’s ability. Training available for full range of vocal performance, from classical to show. Admission by audition/interview only.
Each student will receive personal attention to develop their individual talent. Technique and musicality are strongly stressed. Instruction includes technical development, keyboard literature, musicianship, ensemble playing and accompanying skills. All ages welcome, from six to adult.
