Terms for payment, cancellations, lesson exchange, withdrawls and refunds
Tuition must be paid by either automatic bank account or credit card draft; or predated checks dated for the first day of each month e.g. Sept. 1, Oct. 1 through June 1; or as a single payment for the year (at a 5% discount) due on or before September 1, 2008. The month of September is non-refundable.
All checks should be made payable to the Academy of Music. For students choosing the check payment method, all ten checks (September through June) must be received with their registration to confirm and secure lesson time.
For students choosing auto-draft payment method, the commitment statement must be signed and payment instructions must be received with their registration. No class times will be confirmed without receipt of payment method. Tuition will be debited from your account or charged to your credit card on the 1st day of each month from September-June.
All charges will appear on your bank statement or credit card statement as the Academy of Music. Only regular monthly fees may be paid by auto-debit or credit card. Incidental fees must be paid by check or cash.
By signing the agreement Policies and Procedures, the Academy of Music is thereby authorized to electronically debit a bank account for the amount of any NSF (insuffiicient funds) paper check or auto debit transaction or that person must provide prompt alternative payment (check or cash). A $25 fee will be charged for all NSF returns
There is a two-month minimum for all lessons. One-month notice from the first of the month is required to discontinue any lessons/classes. Withdrawal must be done in person and will not be accepted over the phone. Withdrawal must be done at the Academy office and not with the teacher. Withdrawal must occur within the first 7 days of the month. No withdrawals will be accepted after April 1 for the academic year (September through June). To withdraw from lessons/classes a parent or adult student must:
1. Inform the Academy administration in person, and
2. Complete and sign a withdrawal form provided by the Academy office

It is the responsibility of the parent or adult student to be aware of all Academy activities such as viewing days, recitals, extra classes and dates the school is open or closed. The administration will post all such notices on the Academy bulletin board as well as sending notices via email. It is the parent’s or adult student’s responsibility to regularly check the board and email to ensure they are informed. It is the responsibility of the parent or adult students to inform the Academy of any address, telephone number or email address change.
Recitals are performed at the Academy of Music in a comfortable and supportive environment. They provide students the opportunity to enhance their performance skills and to develop an appreciation of other disciplines of music.
There are two major Student Recitals scheduled each academic year:
Winter Recital -- Early February
Spring Recital -- Early June
See the Academy calendar for exact recital dates.
Recitals are optional unless the teacher specifically requires it of their students. Teachers will notify students at the beginning of the semester if they require their students to perform in the recitals.
The Academy of Music is not responsible for providing before and after class care for students. Parents with students under the age of 7 are to remain at the Academy during classes. Students are not to be left at the Academy for excessive time before or after class. For the safety of the student, parents will meet their students at the teaching studio door after their lesson. Students will not be allowed to leave the building unattended by a responsible adult.
Parents, legal guardians of minor students and adult students waive the right to any legal action for any injury sustained while at the Academy of Music resulting from any activity conducted by the students before, during or after class time.
Medical, photo release and registration forms must be returned with lesson payments or by the first scheduled lesson or class time.
All materials loaned or rented by the Academy of Music remain the property of the Academy of Music. Proper care and maintenance of rented instruments, equipment and materials is expected; Academy of Music parents are financially responsible for the replacement or repair of rented instruments, equipment or materials. Parents will receive a bill for replacement of any property damaged or lost by a student.
If a student fails to comply with Policies and Procedures to the degree necessitating disciplinary action, parents will be notified as soon as possible, certainly by the following business day.
The Academy of Music faculty and staff expects honesty and openness and promises forthright and serious consideration in return. Loss of good faith can jeopardize enrollment in the Academy.
