Focus on the Harp

Intensive time will be devoted to harp ensemble literature in preparation for a concert at the end of the Institute. A favorite class year after year, students have great fun while learning the necessary skills for ensemble playing.

Private instruction is a crucial element in the proper development of a player?s skills. Students will have the opportunity to work individually with one of our master teachers.

Students will have the opportunity to work in chamber (small) ensembles with a faculty coach. Students may also chose to use their time with a faculty coach for guidance in the preparation of orchestral parts or recital repertoire. Richmond Week 3 takes place concurrently with the Chamber Music Institute, affording students an opportunity to participate in chamber music with other advanced instrumentalists.

Each student will be given an opportunity for uninterrupted individual practice time. Practice techniques and strategies are incorporated into all aspects of instruction, students can utilize these methods during their practice to learn how to maximize their time.
